Release Early, Release Often

October 14th, 2007

You can look at your code a thousand times and check and re-check things. Guess what you always forget something. At some point when re-working code and testing I missed a key problem. If you have been using Stash and tried to add a tour date that takes place in a country other than the US you were out of luck. The drop down was empty. It worked at one point not sure what I did to make it not work. All that aside I just released  version 1.0.3. It fixes the above mentioned bug. I guess they say release early and release often. I’m trying my best to stay on top of the bugs that do crop up. Makes me wonder if hosted app was the way to go.

Version 1.0.2 Released

October 13th, 2007

Thanks too “generic” on the forums I was able to fix some over looked bugs on Stash. If you are using version 1.0.1 or later please download the newest version and install. This release fixes some issues I didn’t catch in IE for windows. If you tired to uploaded a jpeg, the script was not allowing pjpeg as a valid type. Also there was an issue with prototypes Ajax.Updater not working in IE when you tried to select a a track to add a mp3 too. I can blame that one on a stray comma. Any who thanks again for pointing out those bug. Please keep them coming.

Hello World

October 11th, 2007

I have received a bit of confusion over what the heck Stash is. So I will try and explain it a bit further.

Stash is simply a Content Management Script that you install on your server. If you go to the Demo you can see what the manager looks like and how it works. You still need to following the Documentation in order to get the content you input into Stash onto your site. Stash uses php functions to display the desired content. This allows you to retrofit a site design that is already in use to be dynamic. So if you have a site that was built with static content it should be easy to use that same design but have the content come from Stash.

Here is an example of a site that uses Stash to manage its content http://www.theforecast.com. The site was first built with just static pages then I included the php functions into the page were I wanted the dynamic content to be.

I hope this might answer some confusion.

Stash was finally here.

September 26th, 2007

So after poking and prodding over Stash for the last 4 months, the time has come. Today we will have released Stash 1.0. I’m very excited to finally have a release that I feel comfortable unleashing on the world. Stash will be considered in Beta still, meaning that some errors or bugs might still crop up. Please let me know via our Forum if you spot an error.

Over the next few weeks, I will try and roll out some sites that have Stash running as there backend. I think seeing an actual band site using the program really help’s people understand what Stash is capable of doing.

I would like to take a minute to thank Chad for helpful hits and a few classes Stash utilizes. I would also like to thank Greg at http://www.gregphoto.net/ for his amazing GD2 image manipulation class.

If you like what you see please help me spread the word.
